CONVENTION TIP:  Are you traveling out of town for the convention weekend?  Make sure to plan out the travel details of your trip beforehand.  Some of the most important things to work out before going to a convention are accommodations, transportation, dining arrangements and money for the bare convention necessities.  The more you plan before the convention, the less drama you have to deal with when you’re there.

CONVENTION WATCH: Bak-Anime 2012 Save The Date

BAKERSFIELD, CA.  The folks who brought you SacAnime return to Bakersfield for a third year in a row to bring BakAnime to the Bakersfield Doubletree Hotel.  According to the Bak-Anime website, the one-day convention will be held on Sunday, April 22nd from 10AM to 6PM and have confirmed Billy Martinez, Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham as guests of honor.

CONVENTION WATCH: Decepti-kon Announces 2012 Dates

SACRAMENTO, CA (Jan. 31, 2012).  Decepti-kon announced in a brief entry on its website that September 29-30, 2012 will be the dates for its second convention.  No further information has been provided on this year’s convention offerings.  Previous convention guests included Karen Dyer, Mike Gray and Christopher Corey.

NEWSBYTE: Ani-Jam Announces 2012 Dates

FRESNO, CA.  Ani-Jam’s website announced on Sunday that August 18-19, 2012 will be the dates for its eighth year convention to be held at the Ernest E. Valdez Exhibition Hall of the Fresno Convention Center.  Events will include concerts, panels & workshops and the return of DJ and voice actor Greg Ayres.

To prepare attendees for the weekend, Ani-Jam will be hosting a Day Zero event on Friday, August 17th for attendees to pick up their badges and participate in select events open to pre-registered attendees only.

Additional programming content offerings for Ani-Jam have not yet been announced, but visitors can view the website for up to date information.

NEWSBYTE: Digital Manga To Present Yaoi-Con 2012

BURLINGAME, CA (Oct. 22, 2011).  Digital Manga Publishing, a North American publisher of boys love comics, announced that it will be presenting Yaoi-Con’s 2012 convention in Los Angeles, California.  Officials at Digital Manga said that they are “committed to offering a bigger and better yaoi-con moving forward,” according to tweets from attending reporters at Yaoi-Con’s Digital Manga Publishing panel held earlier today.  Yaoi-Con has been presented in previous years by Biseinen-ya in Northern California since 2001.

NEWSBYTE: Animation, Manga and Music Announces 2012 Dates

ANAHEIM, CA (Sept. 14, 2011).  Southern California’s only free convention in the anime community on Asian music, animation and comics announces their second year for Father’s Day Weekend.  With over 8,000+ unique attendees at its 2011 event, Animation, Manga and Music- Also known as AM²- returns to the Anaheim Convention Center on June 15-17, 2012.  In a press release by AM² Representative Chase Wang, he states that “Fans are going to be so thrilled with this announcement.”  

AM²’s free events will include the Exhibit Hall, Arcade, Summer Festival, Tabletop and Console Gaming and Dance.  Admission to the convention is free except for concerts and main events, which will require an event ticket or AM²’s Passport starting at a $25.00 pre-reg price until December 31st.  ”…We are proud to bring back this amazing 3 day event that celebrates Japanese music, anime and manga,” exclaims Wang.  ”We hope everyone comes down and joins us for this truly amazing and fun fan event!”
